Respiratory Therapy Director

The Respiratory Therapy Director will work under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer. Directing and overseeing all daily Respiratory Therapy operations. Ensuring that the Respiratory department provides the highest quality, effective, and responsive services to its patients. This position must integrate company values into daily practice. They must establish, meet, and continuously monitor the goals and objectives of the department while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of SCMC.

Responsibilities for Respiratory Therapy Director

  • Interview and select candidates who have appropriate clinical skills and professional characteristics to match patient/family and facility needs.

  • Promote cost effective behavior in staff through documentation, observation, and education.

  • Develop and implement approved departmental policies, procedures, systems, and standards. Ensures compliance therewith.

  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge by acting as a clinical resource to staff and consultant to other departments.

  • Evaluate current research/literature within respiratory therapy.

  • Develop annual budget for Respiratory Therapy Department.

Qualifications for Respiratory Therapy Director

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure required.

  • 3-5+ years relevant health care experience

  • Current BLS certification

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by CNO
