Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse

The Infection Control & Employee Health Nurse will work under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing. The aim of this position is to optimize patient care through the prevention, surveillance, investigation, liaison, education, research and control of healthcare associated infection (HAIs). This individual will be required to provide and maintain a comprehensive, efficient, and effective infection prevention and control service for patients, families, and staff. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Employee Health program, including compliance, wellness initiatives, and health screenings.

Additionally, the role supports the completion of prior authorizations for outpatient infusions and serves as a backup to the Case Manager, assisting with care coordination and discharge planning as needed.

Responsibilities for the Infection Control & EH Nurse

  • Have responsibility for the monitoring, surveillance, investigation, prevention, and control of Hospital Acquired Infection.

  • Advise on isolation techniques and supporting the department managers in supervising the implementation of such techniques.

  • Act as specialist advisor to all nursing staff and other hospital staff where relevant in matters relating to infection prevention/control.

  • Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership.

  • Responsible for pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual N95/TB/Influenza testing and/or vaccinations.

  • Management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks.

Qualifications for the Infection Control & EH Nurse

  • Associate’s degree in science, Healthcare Administration or equivalent preferred

  • 3+ years' experience in clinical RN role or 5+ years’ experience in a clinical LPN role.

  • Current RN or LPN License or compact state license

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
