Pharmacy Department Director
The Pharmacy Director will work under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. The director is responsible for the staffing, day – to – day management, and administration of the Pharmacy department. He/She will plan, direct, and monitor all financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities of the department. He/She will maintain that all pharmacy staff are currently licensed/certified/registered and have adequate Continuing Education credits.
Responsibilities for Pharmacy Department Director
Under direction of the CEO, responsible for day-to-day operations of pharmacy services and activities, including supervision of staff, tasks, and workflow.
Provides education, direction, and mentorship of the team’s function, purpose, and goals.
Develops and maintains policies, procedures and processes that promote safe,
efficient, and cost-effective medication use that comply with CMS standards, as well as, federal and state regulatory agencies.
Establishes and maintains strict controls and accountability for all medications stored in the hospital and dispensed or administered to patients.
Performs duties and responsibilities of support staff (pharmacists and technicians) in their absence.
Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Qualifications for Pharmacy Department Director
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Arkansas.
3-5+ years' experience in hospital pharmacy services role or related experience
Ability to lead team members and the ability to solve problems swiftly
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by CEO
