Pharmacy Department Director

The Pharmacy Director will work under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. The director is responsible for the staffing, day – to – day management, and administration of the Pharmacy department. He/She will plan, direct, and monitor all financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities of the department. He/She will maintain that all pharmacy staff are currently licensed/certified/registered and have adequate Continuing Education credits.

Responsibilities for Pharmacy Department Director

  • Under direction of the CEO, responsible for day-to-day operations of pharmacy services and activities, including supervision of staff, tasks, and workflow.

  • Provides education, direction, and mentorship of the team’s function, purpose, and goals.

  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures and processes that promote safe,

    efficient, and cost-effective medication use that comply with CMS standards, as well as, federal and state regulatory agencies.

  • Establishes and maintains strict controls and accountability for all medications stored in the hospital and dispensed or administered to patients.

  • Performs duties and responsibilities of support staff (pharmacists and technicians) in their absence.

  • Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Qualifications for Pharmacy Department Director

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Arkansas.

  • 3-5+ years' experience in hospital pharmacy services role or related experience

  • Ability to lead team members and the ability to solve problems swiftly

    Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by CEO
