Emergency Department Director
The Emergency Department Director will work under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer. The director is responsible for the staffing and day – to – day management and administration of the Emergency Services department. They will supervise the caliber of treatment and care of patients while performing RN duties as needed.
Responsibilities for Emergency Department Director
Under direction of the CNO, responsible for day-to-day nursing operations of patient care activities, including supervision of staff, tasks, and workflow. Manages staffing needs by evaluating census, acuity, skill level, and staff availability.
Provides education, direction, and mentorship of the nursing team’s function, purpose, and goals.
Assists with direct emergency nursing responsibilities during high flow work times. Active presence on emergency unit for patients and staffing.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
Qualifications for Emergency Department Director
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred or equivalent years’ experience
Current state Registered Nurses license required
3-5+ years of experience in Emergency Services clinical role or related experience
Ability to lead team members and the ability to solve problems swiftly
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications required.
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by CNO
